Next on the Needles...

Happy Friday

Tank Time
I joined the Tank Time as I currently have two, count 'em two Tanks I'm working on. Hope to have the side 'On the Needles' list updated with pictures soon.

Updating the Blog
So I guess I'm feeling a little guilty that I don't update my blog as often as others. I sure LOVE it that Wendy updates hers everyday. It's my morning eye opener with my coffee, as well as Bonne at Chicknits. I always seem to get busy and forget, and then I feel guilty not posting any pics, so put it in the procrasination pile....and then another day passes by, and the vicious cycle of no updating starts all over again. I guess I want to give back to the Blogging Community since I've learned so much from you all. I'm starting to wonder if I'm blogging for me or for you. I definately like having a record of what i'm doing, a diary of such.....but I also hope that someone will learn something or be inspired by something I did or am doing. So if you are out there, and reading this....drop me a note or a comment; I'd love to hear from you.

It's Finally Friday.....have a GREAT weekend all!!

Onde Done....and some other stuff.

Onde is Onderful (sorry couldn't resist)
My Phildar Onde is DONE!! I'm overall happy with the outcome. Now to see if the child will actually wear it. The shoulders are a bit bigger than hoped, but I was modifying an adult pattern to child size, so I'm sure conversions were a bit off. Operator Error as they say....

And here is my lovely daughter Taylor modeling holding Sophie.... (sorry, the neck line is hidden by the cute kitten, but Taylor insisted she be in the photo also)

Me, A Snob??....hmmm
Also, I've officially joined the Snob Stash Reduction Project. Thanks to Jen of MonkeyKnits for organizing this. As the years go on, I've noticed that my snobbiness has reared it's ugly head..... with yarn that is. I find that I enjoy the finer yarns in life, the Noros, the Debbie Blisses, the Phildars, the Opals..... Now I will admit, I still LOVE Lion Brand.....but no worries Jen, there will be none of that going in the box. I promise!!!

Longing to Join the Charlotte Train
Still contemplating Charlotte..... I LOVE all the wonderful Charlottes that are being made. Check out the Charlotte's Web Knit along. I guess I need to step up the ebay selling of extra 'junk' to afford this lovely treat for myself. I guess I'm feeling left out of being a Charlotte Woman.

Speaking of Shawls..... Taylor has been studying Pioneer Days in school an asked me to make her a Shawl to wear. Some of the other kids have been dressing up, they even have new 'names'. Taylor is now Eve in school for the next few weeks. So I started this lovely simple shawl for her and her comment was. "Mom, you know, we are only studying pioneer days for 2 weeks.....do you think you can finish in time." My child knows me all to well.....bouncing from project to project, with out completing something first. Well my dear, I've proven her wrong. Finishing up on the Pioneer Shawl tonight, and she'll be styling in school tomorrow.....just like they did way back when. Hoping to get some good Mom brownie points out of this one. Pictures to come later this week.

Toodles......

All about Yarn...

How is it that when you are a knitter, and an obsessed knitter at that, everything is related to yarn. We use terms like, "fiber obsessed", "yarnaholic", etc. Don't get me wrong, it's a major part of my life, my hobby, my love, my obsession. I've had some people say to me recently, "Why aren't you done with that yet?" Hey you try it, let's see how fast yours goes!! Do some people think all I do is sit and knit and that's it..... I do have a full time job, I'm a single mom, a new kitten to take care of (boy I've forgotten what a handful kittens are..heehee). I guess that's my knitting related rant of the day. On to better things.....

Knitting Updates

Onde Knitalong
Almost done with Phildar Onde top for Taylor.... just have the left front neck to do and then the dreaded seaming. Thankfully there are no sleeve seams to do. :)

Secret Project Revealed
Sorry I was so mysterious about this one. A mother's day Tank for my Mom. She tends to visit here once in a while so I didn't want to ruin the surprise. This was done is Patons Fresco. 100% Microfiber ribbon yarn on size 9 needles.

New WIP

I've started a Kristina Bag in Noro #89 and Cascade 220 Black. I was itching to do some color work that I would actually like doing and would use (gave up on the previous one....too many seams, hmmm...do you see a pattern here) I will also be starting a Lily Bag with the Noro my Secret Pal sent me, in it's very pretty muted pastel shades it will probably become a quick favorite Knitting Tote.

Upcoming Projects

I am DYING to do the Charlottes Web Shawl, there are many other bloggers out there doing this. I know, I like to follow the crowd. They are so beautiful with lots of different colorways. The Threadbear Fiber Arts Studio have a great section all about this wonderful Koigu. Which I have never had the pleasure of being tempted by in person, only from all of my fellow bloggers. I'd love to make a spring/summer colored one as an accent to a pretty black dress I own, and plan to wear to a 'fancy' event this summer. Stay tuned for Charlotte updates.....

And of course you know I couldn't resist posting new pics of our kitten. Sophie was the name that seemed to fit her best.... a little different, a little prissy, and a little fun. She is my new knitting pal. Her favorite place is right on my shoulder under my hair. Too Cute!!! I sent Taylor to clean her room the other night and this is what I found. Not much cleaning was done evidently.

Welcome Little One

faceSorry, No big knitting news today, but I'd like to share a new member of our family. She has yet to have a name. She is a very sweet kitten, and has the most beautiful blue eyes and colorings. We haven't had a kitten in the house for many years....so this is a pleasent change of pace. There's nothing like a little furball curled up under your neck purring away, it's almost as good as rocking a baby to sleep.

Email me if you have a name suggestion, or would like to vote for one of the following three names: Sophie; Sadie or Lily. She has to have a name by Saturday when we take her to the vet for the first time.

Pictureless Day

This shall be a Picture Free day. Sorry, I'm working on a Super Top Secret project that is almost complete. I will post progress photos as soon as finished.

A special thanks to my Secret Knit Pal who sent me a great book on Felted Knits. I'll post a picture soon.

I've been contemplating for some time on taking The Knitting Guild of America Master Knitter's Program. I'm very interested in all the different aspects of knitting, fiber and such. This almost seems like getting your "Master's Degree" in Knitting. I've often dreamt of quitting my job and running away to be foolish and open a Yarn Shop. HeeHee..... wouldn't that be lovely, to play with the yarn all day long....sigh

Has anyone taken this course?? Looking for comments and or Pros and Cons. I found this site that has some good info, but hoping to pick someone elses brain about taking this course. There is no time limit, it can take several years to pass all three levels. I'm extremely interested in this because I'd like to teach some knitting classes sooner than later, and I think this would be great on the Knitting Resume. Perfecting the craft, and learning the history of knitting really just turns me on..... I know I'm a geek!!

I think this little quiz says it all.....What kind of Knitter are you???
Cool granny
You are a masterful knitter! I don't know how you
got this result, but what the hell... Enjoy
your title, and try selling some of your
"unvented" patterns- you may make
enough for that bundle of qiviut you've been
drooling over...

Are you a knitter?
